The Fridayhikers are a group of friends who go hiking for leisure. Depending on the weather and road conditions, the hiking route may be subject to change without prior notice. Participants joining the hikes do so at their own will and at their own risk. They may consider buying their own insurance for better protection. The hike leaders, the organizers and any other participants in the hikes are exonerated from any liabilities and claims as a result of any accidents or losses arising.
Hiking will be cancelled if typhoon signal No. 3 or above is hoistered at 7:30 am on Friday.
Dear Fridayhikers,
The forecast for this Friday is for scattered thunderstorm. So please check the weather before you go hiking on Friday morning. If the thunderstorm warning or any of the rainstorm warnings is hoistered at 7:30 am, the hike will be cancelled.
I have chosen this trail which I am not familiar with. The starting point is at the Pineapple Dam. But instead of walking up the steps to go around the reservoir, take the right car road towards the main dam, Before you reach the main dam, take the Wilson Trail and go SOUTH towards the Smugglers' Pass. At the intersection with MacLehose Trail, go right, take the MacLehose Trail and walk along Golden Hill Road, walk past the Shing Mun Redoubt and the trail returns to the Pineapple Dam. This route is 7 km long and would take 2.5 hrs. to complete.
However if the group is small, I would suggest that you take the old trail around the reservoir as that is familiar and you won't get lost.
Bring plenty of water and sunshade, rain gear with you.
Meeting time: 9 am
Meeting place: Exit B (MTR Tsuen Wan station)
Enjoy yourselves !

Thank you, Belinda. Please count me in.
ReplyDeleteActually the Friday weather forecast says "a few squally showers 幾陣狂風驟雨", not scattered thunderstorms.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Belinda. I will join this Friday 's hike.
ReplyDeleteThanks Belinda. I'm back and will join.

It sounds a bit complicated, just hope it is not muddy especially when it rains!!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha ! Complicated only if you are running in front. Simple if you just follow the crowd ! Can't guarantee no mud on the ground though.
DeleteDear all,
