April 1st: Bride's Pool Road to Luk Keng

The Fridayhikers are a group of friends who go hiking for leisure. Depending on the weather and road conditions, the hiking route may be subject to change without prior notice. Participants joining the hikes do so at their own will and at their own risk. They may consider buying their own insurance for better protection. The hike leaders, the organizers and any other participants in the hikes are exonerated from any liabilities and claims as a result of any accidents or losses arising.

Dear Fridayhikers,

I want to take one of my favourite routes before it gets too hot.  Incidentally, the last time we took this route was March 27th 2015.  This starts out on Bride's Pool Road near Wu Gau Teng and finishes at Luk Keng where we can have lunch at the small restaurant.  The walk is about 3.5 hours.  The initial section is uphill but manageable, and then on reaching the fire lookout, it goes downhill to Kuk Po and then a level stretch along Luk Keng, with a short climb up and then down to the waterfront.  The last short stretch to the restaurant and minibus stop is on concrete road without shade.

Please bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunshade and raingear.  It will be warm and humid tomorrow.

We will meet at the junction of Bride's Pool Road and Wu Gau Teng Road at about 9:40 am in case we take different modes of transport.

Meeting place:  Minibus 20R at Tai Po KCR Station

Meeting time:  9 am  (Minibus departs at 9:10 or 9:15 and it is better to be there early and queue as there are always many passengers)

There is always a possibility that we cannot get on the minibus and so the alternative is that we take the more frequent minibus first to Tai Mei Tuk and from there take a taxi to Bride's Pool Road,  or take a taxi directly from Tai Po Station.

Should the thunderstorm signal or any of the heavy rainstorm signals be up by 8 am, or that there are less than three hikers, the hike is automatically cancelled.

As March 25th is a public holiday, hiking will not be organized.  Weather forecast is for thunderstorm and rain anyway.

Dear Fridayhikers,

Tomorrow will be another humid day with possible drizzles.  Hopefully it will be brighter than today.  Let us start at Hopewell Centre and walk up to Wanchai Gap.  From there, take Black's Link and walk its whole length to Aberdeen.  Alternatively, we can walk down to Aberdeen from the Wanchai Gap Park but that will be a much shorter route which is suitable if there are few people joining the hike tomorrow.

Meeting time:  9:15 am

Meeting place:  Hopewell Centre 17th Floor

Bring water and rain gear and sun gear as usual.  Should the thunderstorm signal or the heavy rainstorm signal be up at 8 am, consider the hike cancelled.  If less than three should sign up for the hike, the hike is also cancelled.

I will not join the hike tomorrow.  Have fun and play safe.

Dear Fridayhikers,

The forecast for tomorrow will be cool with rain patches.  It is forecasted to drop to 9 degrees tomorrow morning.  So if you are coming hiking, please bring rain gear and dress in layers for warmth and easy "de-layering".

So it's concrete path for us tomorrow in view of the heavy rain last night and more rain today.  We will go to our old trusted Shing Mun reservoir.  If you want to bring food, please avoid plastic bags as we do not want to attract the monkeys.

Meeting time:  9:15 am

Meeting place:  MTR Tsuen Wan Station Exit B

If any of you should want to go directly to the Pineapple Dam or the minibus stop, you are welcome to do so, but leave a message on our Whatsapps group so we know not to wait at the MTR station for you.

If the thunderstorm signal or any of the heavy rainstorm signal is up by 8 am, the hike is automatically cancelled.
