Dear Fridayhikers,

Let's go to Chek Keng this Friday.  The route is paved and the weather will soon be too hot for Chek Keng.

Meeting time:  9 am (bus departs at 9:15)

Meeting place:  Village bus stop outside MacDonald's

Please queue for the village bus to Sai Wan Ting when you arrive.  You may try to be there early and use the toilets near the Sai Kung bus terminal.  There are just two primitive toilets at Sai Wan.

Halfway on the hike, we will lunch as usual at the little eatery on the beach.  The hike is estimated to take about 3.5 hours.  We can choose to walk up to Pak Tam Au for the bus or we can call a boat to take us to Wong Shek Pier when we reach the foot of the slope up to Pak Tam Au.

Please bring enough water, rain gear, sun gear, etc.

The hike is automatially cancelled if the thunderstorm or heavy rainstorm signal is up by 8 am, or if less than three hikers register.

May 12th: Middle Gap

Dear Fridayhikers,

I have picked the D10 route from 行山樂 for tomorrow.  It's gentle and shady in parts which should be suitable for a hot Friday.

The route starts from Wanchai Gap Park.  We walk up Middle Gap Road, at the road's end, we turn on to a trail, and then we join Black's Link which takes us back to Wanchai Gap Park.  Depending on how fast we walk, we can stop there or extend the walk.  We can decide to walk down to Aberdeen, or we can walk down to Wanchai or Admiralty via Bowen Road.  The circular route from Wanchai Gap Park to Wanchai Gap Park takes about 3 hours.

This is a description from 頭條日報:

Meeting time:  9:15 am

Meeting place:  Wanchai Gap Park

To go to Wanchai Gap Park, you can take Bus No. 15.  The terminal is at Central Pier 5.  There is a stop at Exchange Square and at Admiralty and it goes along Queen's Road East and Stubbs Road.

Please bring rain gear, sun shade, and plenty of water.  This is an easy walk suitable for all.

Dear Fridayhikers,

The forecast for tomorrow is for showers and thunderstorm.  Please check the weather before you leave for the hike tomorrow morning.  If any of the heavy rainstorm signals or the thunderstorm signal is up by 8 am, the hike is automatically cancelled.

The route:
From Parkview, we will walk down to Tai Tam Reservoir, and then up to 大風坳 , and then down to Quarry Bay.  The walk is estimated to be about 3 hours.   Most parts are on concrete road.  Should we start off and then the weather becomes unstable, we will exit at Tai Tam Reservoir.

Meeting time:   9:15 am

Meeting place:  Outside the public toilets at Wong Nei Chong Reservoir Park ( the usual meeting point for walk to Voilet Hill)

Please bring water, rain gear, sun gear and walking stick as needed.
