The Fridayhikers are a group of friends who go hiking for leisure. Depending on the weather and road conditions, the hiking route may be subject to change without prior notice. Participants joining the hikes do so at their own will and at their own risk. They may consider buying their own insurance for better protection. The hike leaders, the organizers and any other participants in the hikes are exonerated from any liabilities and claims as a result of any accidents or losses arising.

Dear Fridayhikers,
Sorry for the late post.  A familiar route is chosen for this Friday - the Dragon's Back Trail from To Dei Wan to Chaiwan.  The estimated time to complete the trail is 3.5 hours.

Meeting Time:  9:15 am

Meeting Place:  No. 9  Bus Stop at Shaukeiwan Bus Terminal  (Please take the Exit A3 if you are coming by MTR)

Please queue up at the bus stop when you arrive.  There is a public toilet near the bus terminal and a less clean one at the starting point.   We will board the bus which leaves close to the meeting time.  So if you need to use the washroom, please arrange to arrive early.

In view of warm weather, please bring plenty of water as well as sunblock, umbrella, stick, etc.

Dear Fridayhikers,

I checked the weather forecast again today and the weather observatory is predicting 7 degrees and severe cold in the morning of Friday.  And judging by the huge response from everybody so far, I guess the cold is an issue.  From Millan.Net

So let's defer our support for Lantao until the cold spell goes away and stay on ground level this cold Friday.  It's back to the Shing Mun Reservoir walk again which you are all familiar with.

Yesterday on a TV programme about land development, a Mr. Lam said the Country Park on Lantao was not visited by many, the hills were big with few trees, and that to say that Lantao was HK's 後花園 was but a 假設.   So despite the cold weather, let's support the country park on Lantao From Millan.Net and visit our own 後花園 this Friday before it is demolished and turned into blocks of concrete buildings.

This is a leisurely route called the Olympic Trail which we have walked before,  6.5 km in length and according to the book takes 3 hours to complete.  It is paved and should be all right even if it drizzles.  But it is exposed so please prepare for wind and cold.

We will take a taxi from Tung Chung MTR station to the starting point of 白芒村 and from there we will walk to 白銀鄉 and then to 梅窩.   From Mui Wo, you may choose to take the ferry to Central or take a bus back to Tung Chung for the MTR.
