2013-11-01 榕樹澳 -- 深涌 -- 白沙澳

The Fridayhikers are a group of friends who go hiking for leisure. Depending on the weather and road conditions, the hiking route may be subject to change without prior notice. Participants joining the hikes do so at their own will and at their own risk. They may consider buying their own insurance for better protection. Gentle Reminder: For those of you who'll go to 榕樹澳 on your own, please note that we'll assemble at the end of the vehicular track where the taxi can't go any further. Thanks.

Dear all,

This Friday is expected to be breezy with sunny intervals.  Let's take another not so challenging route in Sai Kung.

Meeting Time: 0900
Meeting Place: Taxi Stand at Sai Kung Town Centre (opposite bus terminal)

We'll first take a taxi to
榕樹澳, the starting point of our walk.  The route is 9 km long and we may finish the walk in 3.5 hours.  The slopes are gentle and should be suitable for those who have been on a long summer break.  We'll return to Sai Kung at app. 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

Please bring sun gear and plenty of water.

2013-10-25 大灘郊遊徑

This Friday will be hot and sunny.  Our walk from 猴塘溪 to 海下 in Sai Kung will last for 3 to 3.5 hours.  The one-hour circular walk on Wan Chai Peninsula is not included.

Meeting Time: 8:45 am (Minibus leaves at 8:55 am)

Meeting Place: No. 7 Green Minibus Terminal, Sai Kung (opposite KMB bus terminal)


Please bring sun gear, mosquito repellent and plenty of water.  

P. S.  No. 7 is a popular minibus route in Sai Kung.  It departs every 30 minutes.  Please arrive early and queue up.

2013-10-18 鹿湖郊遊徑

We'll go to our favourite district, Sai Kung, this Friday.  From Sai Wan Ting, we'll follow the Luk Wu Country Trail to Tsak Yu Wu.  This will take us 3 hours.  If the visibility is good, we'll walk up to Tai Chum Goi (大枕蓋, 408 m, the second highest peak in Sai Kung) for a panoramic view of the whole Sai Kung East Country Park, including the High Island Reservoir.  An additional 45 min to 1 hour is needed.  In case it rains when we arrive at Sai Wan Ting, we'll go to Chek Keng instead. 
 
Meeting Time: 9:00 am
 
Meeting Place: #29R village bus stop outside the MacDonald's in Sai Kung.
 
The village bus takes 28 passengers and departs at 9:15 am.  Late comers please take a taxi to Sai
Wan Ting, the starting point of our hike.
 
We'll have lunch in Sai Kung at app. 2 pm.  Please bring sufficient water, light snacks and sun/rain gear.

2013-10-11 Violet Hill Path

We'll walk from Wong Nai Chung Reservoir to Tai Tam Road near Stanley via Violet Hill Path this Friday.  The route is 7 km long and goes mainly downhill.  The expected journey time is 3 hours.

Meeting Place: Wong Nai Chung Reservoir

Public transport to Wong Nai Chung Reservoir:
Bus No. 6 and 66 from Admiralty or the Exchange Square, Central to Stanley
Bus No. 41A from North Point Ferry Pier to Wah Fu
Bus No. 63 from North Point Ferry Pier to Stanley


Please get off the bus at the Shell Gas Station (after the Hong Kong Tennis Centre and the Hong Kong Cricket Club) on Wong Nai Chung Gap Road. Then walk up the stairs by the flyover at the end of the gas station.

It may still be hot around noon time.  Please do UV protection and bring sufficient water.
