The Fridayhikers are a group of friends who go hiking for leisure. Depending on the weather and road conditions, the hiking route may be subject to change without prior notice. Participants joining the hikes do so at their own will and at their own risk. They may consider buying their own insurance for better protection. The hike leaders, the organizers and any other participants in the hikes are exonerated from any liabilities and claims as a result of any accidents or losses arising.
Hiking Date: 16 Jan 2015 ( Friday)
Weather Forecast: some sunny periods; 17 C - 21 C; 65%-90%
Meeting Time ---9:45am
Meeting Place---Wu Gau Tang Car park
Thirteen Fridayhikers have indicated they would like to go hiking at WU GAU TANG and have our special lunch at 三椏村, 福利茶室 with 手打墨魚丸,芋頭扣肉,白灼虾,羗葱蒸魚,果皮鮑魚 etc. We plan to walk for about 2 hr 15min from Wu Gau Tang, taking the Lower Trail, to reach 三椏村 at noon, spending 2 hr for a relaxing lunch, and taking the Upper Trail to walk for 1.5 hr back to Wu Gau Tang at 3.30pm. I have requested Mr TSANG, chief cook and boss, to have our lunch ready at 12noon as there might be Fridayhikers who would take the 3:45pm minibus from Wu Gau Tang. Clearly I do not have the ability to "make sure" that lunch will be served no later than 12.30pm.
(Drivers and passengers:
KM (driver), wife Margaret; Christina, Grace, one more passenger Leo?;
Carrie (driver), SS, DK, Rita, Jon.
Adrian (? flexible? driver) Anson?
Ruth (to be confirmed) (driver), Hoi Yee.
Many thanks to Leo, our Treasurer, who has agreed that $500 will be drawn from our reserve to subsidize members' special lunch and made enquiries for mini-bus service: 9:10am from Tai Po Market East Rail Station to Wu Gau Tang; and 3:45pm from WU Gau Tang to Tai Po Market East Rail Station.
Would Fridayhikers whose names appear above confirm by writing that you will come, drive or not. Other Fridayhiker members who are coming too please indicate whether you would take public transport or drive or approach other drivers. Deadline 9am Wed 14 Jan 2015. Once the meal is ordered on Wed, you are expected to pay your share even if you do not turn up.
Special thanks to KM who made an extra trip in Jan 2014 and would be happy to help on 16 Jan 2015 before 4pm.
Would Fridayhiker members please take Belinda's advice from Toronto: relax over good food and a good chat!
Cheers,
SS
Thanks, SS. I will come on Friday and would not mind taking the 9:10 minibus direct to Wu Gau Tang in case there are insufficient drivers to do the pickup at Tai Mei Tuk.
ReplyDeleteDear SS,
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if I can have a lift.
I have written to KM.
hoiyee
A big thank-you to SS indeed for all the efforts in organizing this big event. As KM will pick up Hoi Yee, I shall take the 9:10 am minibus to go to WGT, unless Adrian is driving, in which case I would appreciate a lift by him. I trust Louisa would not object to me agreeing to dish out $500 for the lunch.
ReplyDeleteThank you SS. I'll join, meeting you and Carrie at C U East Rail station at 9am?
ReplyDeleteD K
I am in. Thanks KM for the ride and SS for coordinating.
ReplyDeleteI shall join the hike and lunch. Thanks KM for the ride, I can wait for your car at a spot, convenient to you. Thanks to SS for taking time to co-ordinate.
ReplyDeleteChristina
I shall join the hike and lunch. Thanks to KM for the kind offer to drive. We shall email regard the arrangement. Thanks SS.
ReplyDeleteChristina
I shall pick up Christina, Grace and Hoi Yee. With Margaret, my car is full.
ReplyDeleteI'll join the hike and lunch. I can pick up SS ,DK, Rita and John at CU railway station, at 9:15am. Car is Honda Jazz, blue , no. PH1755
ReplyDeleteMany thanks to Carrie for giving me a lift and indicating the pick-up time at 9:15am and related details. DK hopefully is clear about the pick-up time and place at CU East Rail Station, near taxi stand of seaside exit with buses and cars. I will what's app to DK.
ReplyDeleteSince Anson has made 3 suggestions, I have been waiting to see whether there are some more suggestions. I prefer to respond in one go.
Suggestion No. 1. to make sure lunch will be served before 12:30---The chief cook and boss of 福利茶室 "controls" the time when dishes are to be served. I had spoken with him requesting that we would like to start our lunch at 12 noon and finish around 2 pm.
Suggestion No.2------stating the time for the cars to assemble at Wu Gau Tang. The blog has got the words. Meeting time 9:45am; meeting place: Wu Gau Tang car park.
I would like to seek the help of Adrian to drive to Wu Gau Tang (Adrian has told me he is flexible; he would be happy to drive) hoping that he would give Anson a lift. Leo mentioned that a lift from Adrian would be appreciated.
3 Drivers, Carrie, KM and Adrian (if Adrian agrees to drive)
and 10 passengers, DK, Rita, Jon, SS; Margaret, Christina, Grace, Hoi Yee; Anson and Leo----
will start our hike together at 9:45am at WU Gau Tang. We would take about 2hr 15min to reach 三椏村 around noon.
13 of us would hopefully relax and enjoy a two-hour meal, walk back for about one and a half hours to Wu Gau Tang and possibly look forward to going home as soon as possible to have a warm bath! KM has mentioned he will go out in the evening. Currently we know there are thirteen Fridayhikers coming. I have whats app to Rita, waiting for her confirmation.
Suggestion No. 3--to post an additional note on Wed---- May I respond to Anson's suggestion no. 3 by asking whether you are saying there will not be any additional note? thank you!
Cheers,
SS, Tuesday afternoon
No further additional note from me. Thanks, SS
DeleteThanks Carrie & SS,
ReplyDeleteBoth John & I will join this Friday hiking, meeting u at University Station at 9:15am thank you
Anson has raised a 4th issue: my reply is Friday 16 Jan 2015 hike from WU Gau Tang and special meal at Sam Ah Village is for fridayhiker members only, not for non-members. Spouse, son and daughter are welcome, being immediate family members.
ReplyDeleteThanking fridayhikers for your patience to read what I have written,
SS
Further to Whatapps messages this afternoon, I confirm that I will drive starting from Leo's home picking up Grace on the way and then Anson on some pick up point before going to Wu
ReplyDeleteBefore going to Wu Gau tang. Would Leo please advise where would then be the convenient point of pick up for Anson and thus when should I start from his home.
ReplyDeleteI think the most convenient pickup point is University Station. After passing the Tate's Cairns tunnel and Tate's Cairns Highway, you will pass by Shatin City One, Shek Mun and Ah Kung Kok (opposite to Race Course but on the other side of Shing Mun River); there will be a flyover across the River and Tolo Highway with a road sign to indicate University MTR is ahead.
ReplyDeleteNow I am writing a THANK YOU MESSAGE at ABOUT 11am Wed 14 Jan 2015.
ReplyDeleteMy heartfelt thanks go to 3 Fridayhiker drivers:
ADRIAN, who kindly agrees to give ANSON, GRACE & LEO a lift;
CARRIE, with 4 passengers, RITA, JON, DK & SS;
KM, with 3 passengers, MARGARET, CHRISTINA & HOI YEE
The kindness of drivers is greatly appreciated because you enable your passengers to relax over a 2-hour meal, have a nice chat, or crack some jokes with other fridayhikers. without worrying whether there is the need to rush in order to catch the 3.45pm mini-bus at WU Gau Tang or to call a taxi that may not be available immediately.
I have let 三椏村 福利茶室 know that there will be 13 hikers, one dozen of 手打墨魚丸will not be enough. We do not want to draw lots or fight! We want to smile or laugh!
MY APOLOGIES TO ANSON AS THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL NOTE THIS MORNING. It would be a waste of my time and energy to do so.
I choose to stay happy and healthy, and also wishing you all
HAPPY AND HEALTHY
CHEERS,
SS
Thanks SS for all your coordination efforts.
DeleteTHANK YOU, SS, for taking all the trouble to organize the lunch and coordinate the transport. Let's all enjoy a Happy New Year lunch tomorrow! See you all in 11 hours.
