April 8th: Wong Shek Pier to Tsak Yu Wu

The Fridayhikers are a group of friends who go hiking for leisure. Depending on the weather and road conditions, the hiking route may be subject to change without prior notice. Participants joining the hikes do so at their own will and at their own risk. They may consider buying their own insurance for better protection. The hike leaders, the organizers and any other participants in the hikes are exonerated from any liabilities and claims as a result of any accidents or losses arising.

Dear Fridayhikers,

It will be a warm and humid Friday with the possibility of a shower.   I want to try this route which is supposed to be leisurely and shady (about 3 hours) with a gentle gradient.

Wong Shek Pier - 土瓜坪 - 北潭坳 - 北潭郊遊徑 - 鰂魚湖

Meeting Place:  Sai Kung Bus Terminal #94

Meeting Time:  9:20  (Bus leaves at 9:30)

Toilets are available at Sai Kung and at Wong Shek Pier.

I'm not sure I've taken this route before so I hope some of you can lead the way.

As always, should the thunderstorm signal or any of the heavy rainstorm signal be hoistered at 8 am, count the hike cancelled.  If less than 3 people register for the hike, the hike is also automatically cancelled.

Please bring sufficient water and snacks to sustain you until a late lunch at about 2 pm.  Also bring sun protection and rain gear.

The hot weather is coming.  Come and join the hike now that the extreme heat is not yet upon us !

  2. Thanks, Belinda. Last time we took the route on 2 October. The total distance is 6.1 km and we spent about two and a half hours (including stops) to complete the journey.
@ Teresa, the bus runs at half an hour interval. Before the 9:30 bus, there is one departing at 9:00.

    1. Then I think I came on this route in October but I don't much remember it. Did we walk to Pak Tam Chung from Tsak Yu Wu?

    2. If it is too short and we want to walk more, we can take the Pak Tam Chung Family Walk from Tsak Yue Wu to the big bus stop at Pak Tam Chung which will add another 40-45 minutes.
