Dear Fridayhikers,

The forecast for Friday is cloudy with a bit of sun and one or two showers.  The temperature climbs to 22.   I've chosen Chek Keng as it is paved and should not be slippery even if there is a bit of rain.  It is also relatively safe (from robbers) as it is away from the city.

Meeting time:  9 am (bus departs at 9:15)

Meeting place:  Village bus stop outside MacDonald's

Please queue for the village bus to Sai Wan Ting when you arrive.  You may try to be there early and use the toilets near the Sai Kung bus terminal.  There are just two primitive toilets at Sai Wan.

Halfway on the hike, we will lunch as usual at the little eatery on the beach.  The hike is estimated to take about 3.5 hours.  We can choose to walk up to Pak Tam Au for the bus or we can call a boat to take us to Wong Shek Pier when we reach the foot of the slope up to Pak Tam Au.

Please bring enough water, rain gear, sun gear, etc.

The hike is automatially cancelled if the thunderstorm or heavy rainstorm signal is up by 8 am, or if less than three hikers register.

Please enjoy your hike.  I cannot join you this week so see you in April.

Dear Fridayhikers,

We will go to Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve this Friday and we will "likely" take the three hour walk.  Should the weather become unstable, we can take one of the shorter trails.  We will start from Tsung Tsai Yuen.

Meeting time:  9:15 am

Meeting place:  Taxi stand at Tai Po Market Train Station

We can take a taxi from the train station to Tsung Tsai Yuen and start our walk there.

If Joseph comes to the hike, he will lead our group to walk to the Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve and walk from the other end of the trail to Tsung Tsai Yuen.

Please bring mosquito repellent, rain gear, and walking stick.

10th March: HKU to Pokfulam Reservoir to Peak

The Fridayhikers are a group of friends who go hiking for leisure. Depending on the weather and road conditions, the hiking route may be subject to change without prior notice. Participants joining the hikes do so at their own will and at their own risk. They may consider buying their own insurance for better protection. The hike leaders, the organizers and any other participants in the hikes are exonerated from any liabilities and claims as a result of any accidents or losses arising.

Dear Fridayhikers,

It will be humid, cloudy with a bit of rain tomorrow.   This is a route we have taken several times before.  We walk from HKU  VC Lodge, up Po Shan Road , Hatton Road , take the side road at Lung Fu Shan, towards Pokfulam Reservoir, and after going down to Pokfulam Reservoir, we walk up to the Peak.  From there, we can if we want to, walk down to HKU again via Hatton Road, go around the Peak , or take the bus to Wanchai or Central.  If weather is bad, we can exit early at Pokfulam Reservoir without going up the Peak.

The route is part earth and stone, part concrete.   Please bring rain gear, sun gear, walking stick, and water.

Meeting time:  9:15am

Meeting place:  MTR HKU Station Exit A2   or VC Lodge

If you are walking up from the MTR Station, opposite the Graduate House, you can go off the car road to take the parallel pedestrian road under the trees on your right.

Next Friday's forecast is for similar weather.  If it clears up, we can take the Olympic Trail on Lantao.
